Short term cat boarding
in Ferndown

From providing your cats with a comfortable stay, to offering them healthy and sumptuous meals, the team at Ferndown Cattery can handle it all.

Our feeding policy

You tell us what you would like us to feed your cats and that's what we feed them. We also feed them at the intervals you ask for. The advantages are:
1) The cats settle in better
2) They eat well
3) No upset tummies for us to clean up after

Please note: In the unlikely event that a cat is not eating what the owner has asked us to feed them, we will try alternatives until we find something that they like. Please do not feed your cat prior to travelling, we will welcome them with a meal upon arrival.

At Ferndown Cattery, we can cater for every feline palate, no matter how selective or particular your cat may be. We ordinarily stock Felix As Good As It Looks, Sheba, Encore, Canagan, Gourmet Mon Petit and Gourmet Perle. We have a selection of fresh foods, usually cooked chicken, sardines, coley fish, tinned tuna and pilchards. In addition, we only feed good quality dried foods. We feed Royal Canin Sensible as our basic dry food to our adult guests, Royal Canin Kitten to the babies and Royal Canin Senior 7+ and 12+ to our senior citizens. We also stock Royal Canin Exigent Savour & Aroma Sensation, All the Royal Canin breed specific dry foods.

If your cat is on a special diet that is supplied by your vet, it may be necessary for you to bring this in with your cat so that we can continue with his or her prescribed diet whilst he or she is with us, but check with us first as we may have it in stock especially of it's a Royal Canin veterinary food.
Additionally, we welcome any treats or titbits that will encourage your cat to settle in quickly.

"After all it's your pussy cat's holiday too!"
In general, adult cats are given two meals daily, served morning and evening. Kittens and elderly cats are fed according to their individual needs.

Health

To safeguard the health of all our boarders we reserve the right to refuse admission to any cat showing signs of ill health.
All cats must have been immunized against Feline Enteritis and Cat Flu within the last year and the last vaccination must have been completed at least 7 days prior to boarding. Owners must produce an up-to-date inoculation certificate on arrival which will be kept at the cattery whilst boarding. All male cats over the age of seven months must be neutered before they are permitted to be boarded at Ferndown Cattery. Your own Vet will advise you as to the exact time as maturity varies from one cat to another.

Flea treatment

All cats will be checked for fleas during their stay. If any live fleas are found, they will be treated with 'stronghold' or a similar product and a fee of £10.00 per cat treated will be charged. Where one cat in a family is found to have fleas, all cats from that family will be treated for obvious reasons. If no fleas are found, but there is an excessive amount of 'flea dirt' present, they will be checked again in 4-5 days’ time and treated as necessary. Therefore, please ensure your cats have had adequate treatment before arriving at the cattery, we suggest treating at least 48 hours before hand.

Visiting

Visiting of cats during their stay with us is not recommended. We find that visits from friends and neighbours can upset some cats. However, owners may visit their own cats after the first 5 days of boarding where the cats are boarding for an extended period due to building work etc. For more information about the services we offer or to discuss our dietary supply in detail, contact us today.
